Date: March 21, 2015
Hosts: 51% Coalition in partnership with FES Jamaica
Twenty-eight representatives from various organisations in Jamaica’s Women’s Sector met to discuss its continued participation in the Partnership for Jamaica (PFJ) and to elect a four-woman team that will attend the meetings on behalf of the sector.
The Meeting entailed a review of the Partnership for Jamaica Agreement, reflections from Women’s Sector representatives, discussion regarding defining the 51% Coalition and the Women's Sector, as well as good governance and the party political process.
The Session closed with the election of a representative and signaled the Sector’s intention to continue its participation in the PFJ, whose mandate is to embark on a programme for Jamaica’s stabilisation surrounding growth with equity and sustainable development through social partnership. It involves representatives from government, business, non-government organisations and other civil society groups.
WMW Jamaica champions gender-equity, justice and violence-free social relations using gender-aware media analysis and transformative action and participatory training techniques.
Since 1987 we’ve enabled individuals, groups, organizations and businesses to transform, using media, drama-in-education and popular culture in inclusive ways that reflect the beauty and complexity of our differences and similarities.
